The Pig War

I have been wondering how many of us Bazalgettes are aware of the Pig War, the war between the UK and the USA in which the only casualty was one pig? Captain George Bazalgette commanded the Royal Marines who held the line for Britain. The cause of the argument - the border between Canada and the USA - was finally adjudicated by the German King Wilhelm - who was King of Germany during the First World War. He adjudicated to the disadvantage of the Brits and Canadians: I glad we won by 1918, though it was costly. Read about it in several accounts on the web: google 'Pig War' and you'll be taken there.
