Quote from guest on 9th January 2012, 2:16 pmWe have been contacted by Michael Davies, a history teacher in Enfield, to ask whether or not Hill Lodge, the house in Clay Hill, Enfield still exists where Sir Joseph was born, and if so whether it has a blue plaque.
Does anyone know the answer to this?

Sadly gone. British History Online says Hill Lodge had disappeared by 1972, giving Pevsner as a reference.

It stood next to the Fallow Buck public house, which still exists, but Hill Lodge was demolished in 1965, although parts of the original garden wall can still be seen.
